Spending some time in Sète gives you the true Mediterranean experience and, if you’d like to make the most of it, there are near-endless possibilities, such as boat and sea trips, sea fishing, underwater views, a canal tour, sea kayaking (preferential rates for Port Marine customers at Kayak Med next to the hotel), sailing, paddle-surfing, windsurfing, kite-surfing, diving, etc.
The people of Sète have twelve kilometres (seven and a half miles) of beaches to enjoy - from the Lazaret to the Corniche, from the Lido to the Castellas beach, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Every village on the archipelago offers large areas where the whole family can just laze around. The kids will have a great time in Mèze and Bouzigues where the water is shallow and there’s no tide, so they can paddle safely to their hearts’ content. Grown-ups will enjoy spending some time at one of the many beach clubs (“Les Salines”, “La Voile Rouge”, “L’Essentiel”, etc.) working on their tans, trying some grilled fish or having a drink with friends at sunset.
Some good places to eat in Sète: gastronomic at The Marcel (starred), bistronomy and cultural events at the Rio counter, traditional at Fred's (downstairs from the hotel, master restaurateur)... and at Les Halles de Sète for market cuisine to eat in or take away. Another atmosphere just a few steps from the hotel, La Consigne and its fresh menu or, on the quai des Moulins, La Péniche and its unique setting. Other good addresses at the reception desk!

In the immense pine forest at Mèze, at the heart of one of the most important / largest paleontological sites, between the trees or at a turn in the path, you’ll suddenly see life-size reconstructions of various European dinosaur species (tyrannosaurus, spinosaurus, triceratops). The kids can play at being apprentice archaeologists on the special excavation site and dig up their own treasures from the past.
